Although there is a misconception that younger women do not require lubrication during intercourse the truth is that all women would require lubricants to ease out the process and enjoy the pleasure in place of feeling unbearable pain and discomfort while having sex. Many people use different types of substances for the process of intercourse although the right type of product can make the real difference.

What causes vaginal dryness?
The levels of vaginal secretions vary from one woman to another, and it can be largely affected by stress, depression and anxiety along with relationship problems. Sometimes hormonal changes triggered by contraception, menstruation, pregnancy and breastfeeding may also contribute to vaginal dryness. It has also been reported that medical conditions like high blood sugar, high blood pressure, immune disorders and complete hysterectomy may lead to such troubles as well. It is also important to note here that women require more stimulation than men and in such cases, lack of proper foreplay may cause pain and discomfort while having intercourse.

What is lubrication useful for?
There are many reasons why many people show no interest in sex which includes fatigue, discomfort and pain which doesn’t make sex as pleasurable as it should be. First of all, it is important to dispel the myth that lubricants are only required for alleviating a sexual problem. The truth is that many women regardless of whether they are young or old suffer from dryness in the vagina which becomes very embarrassing to be discussed with anyone or seek aid. Most people believe that the younger women should always be wet and when they are suffering from vaginal dryness, it is a sign of some serious underlying condition.

What are the different types of lubricants?
According to a study, it has been reported that 9 out of 10 women feel that use of lubrication during intercourse not only makes the intercourse feel more comfortable but also makes it more pleasurable compared to not having used any kind of lubrication. Not only that, a proper lubrication can make the intercourse a lot more comfortable for men too. It also helps in preventing damage or abrasion caused to the delicate tissues of both male and female genitals. And it goes without saying that a couple can enjoy sexual intercourse and make it last longer when it feels comfortable.
With different types of lubricants to select from, it is imperative that you must consider the most suitable option as some people may develop allergic reactions from the lubricants and feel a burning or tingling sensation.

Some of the most common types of lubricants include:
Water-based lubricants are considered the safest of all options and are inexpensive and non-staining. One can also use them with the diaphragms or other protective measures. The water-based lubricants can also be washed off after use and are known to leave the skin nourished and smooth after use. On the other hand, the oil-based lubricants make the skin silky and smooth owing to their thick consistency. Before you choose any product, it is recommended to speak to an expert who will help you choose the best lubricant for your needs.
